Sake

Tsunami imports its own sake direct from small boutique breweries in Japan who hand make sake in the ancient traditional way. It is like paddock-to-plate, but for sake.

To keep it fresh we transport it in reefer containers and keep it in our refrigerated sea container at 5°C to keep it fresh. We have an extensive range from junmai, ginjo, daiginjo, nama, muroka, genshu, koshu, nigori, honjozo, kijoshu. We source from Akita, Miyagi, Fukushima, Tochigi, Chiba, Aichi, Gifu, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, & Kagoshima.

But the thing we like most is that we have got to know the sake brewers personally over the years. We’ve eaten, drank and laughed with them and their families over the years. When we have a question we can just ask them. There’s no distributor between us. Just us and them.

With our special liquor license we are able to sell sake for you to take home also. So if you like what you drink here tonight, whether it be a plum wine, yuzushu, sake, beer, shochu, craft gin, etc, you can ask for a bottle to take home (at takeaway liquor store prices).

SuperSake is our in-house distributor, run by Tsunami’s owner Brett Carboni and Head Chef, Tetsuya Sakamoto. The pair travel to breweries near and far, tasting their way through the styles, rice varietals and brewing techniques, to hand pick the best of the bunch and bring home to Perth.

A QUICK TIP

Try one of our sweet Umeshu’s (plum wine), it’s a real crowd pleaser due to it's ability to be drunk over ice as a digestif, on it's own, with some soda water as a highball spritz, or just a bottle to take home for a hot summer evening. It is extremely popular. This has created a following that has led Tsunami to prepare for the umeshu lovers and introducing various other Japanese fruit liqueurs such as Yuzushu (Japanese citrus), Momoshu (Peach), Nashishu and many more.
